TrustedHousesitters needed high-quality, engaging blog content to match their radically optimistic brand and increase their organic reach. My role was to create entertaining, expert-driven, SEO-optimised articles that both pet lovers and search engines couldn’t resist.

Background Info

Client name: TrustedHousesitters

Client description: “Discover free & unique homestays around the world, in exchange for caring for adorable pets”

Client industry: Pet care/ travel

Project dates: January 2024 - January 2025

The Challenge

TrustedHousesitters wanted to scale their blog content to:

  • Drive more organic traffic to their website, especially through page one rankings

  • Support their mission of global travel through pet sitting

  • Build trust with both pet parents and sitters

  • And do it all in a way that felt like a conversation with a clever friend

TrustedHousesitters’ brand voice is everything: radically optimistic, friendly, and sometimes witty and cheeky. Their content also had to carry authority and be factually accurate, especially with sensitive pet care topics or solo female travel advice.

My tech stack: The software I used in this project.

My Approach

Working with the TrustedHousesitters content team, I combined storytelling and my knowledge of search engine optimisation to create personality-packed, high-ranking blog content. This included:

  • Content briefs: I created structured, keyword-informed outlines tailored to SEO goals.

  • Thorough research: I backed every piece with in-depth research, vet collaboration for medical accuracy, and original insights for added value.

  • SEO tools: I used Semrush and Surfer SEO to identify high-impact keywords and optimise each article for performance.

  • Engaging writing: Every article was written in American English to suit their international audience, and carefully edited to ensure it struck the perfect tone: playful, personable, and expert.

  • Image sourcing: I selected compelling visuals to complement the content and boost readability.

Topics ranged from pet behaviour and wellness to solo female travel, always written to be digestible and search-friendly.

Examples of content that achieved first organic result, featured snippets, and/or Google AI results.

The Results

Thanks to this approach, the results spoke for themselves:

  • First organic result: Many of my pieces landed in the top spot, with others consistently ranking on the first page, bringing substantial traffic to the site.

  • Featured snippets: Many articles secured the highly coveted “position zero” just beneath Google’s AI summary.

  • Google AI sampling: My content was frequently pulled into AI-generated previews—highlighting the clarity and authority of the writing.

These results not only boosted visibility but also helped TrustedHousesitters convert curious readers into loyal members.
