How I Built a Bold, Queer Brand for That’s So Fruity

Based in Edinburgh, our non-profit is dedicated to creating fun, inclusive, and safe spaces for queer women and non-binary people.

As one of the four founding members, I took the lead on brand building and marketing for the launch and beyond of That’s So Fruity.

Background Info

Client name: That’s So Fruity

Client description: Non-profit organisation celebrating queer women and non-binary people in Edinburgh.

Client industry: Events Community / LGBTQ+

Project dates: March 2023 - Present

The Challenge

From designing our logo to launching our Instagram, I helped shape a vibrant identity that reflects exactly who we are: joyful, unapologetic, and fiercely community-first.

To launch and promote our events, we needed:

  • A brand identity that was instantly recognisable and full of personality

  • A strong social media presence that would build hype, grow a community, and reflect our values

  • Fun and bold social media graphics and videos that reach new and returning audiences

My tech stack: The software I used in this project.

My Approach

From the beginning, we knew this couldn’t be just another event brand. That’s So Fruity needed to pop off the screen and make people feel welcome – before they even walked through the door.

  • Brand development: I designed our logo in Adobe Illustrator with a funky, standout font to match our playful personality and created a visual identity around bright colours, retro elements, fun and inclusivity.

The logo I designed for That’s So Fruity.

  • Social media graphic design: I launched our Instagram and created eye-catching graphics that reflect our audience and our vibe.

Graphics I designed for the That’s So Fruity Social Media.

  • Brand voice copywriting: I wrote relatable, conversational captions that speak directly to our community – no corporate voice here, just queer joy.

Descriptions I wrote for the social media posts.

The Results

That’s So Fruity quickly gained traction and became one of the most exciting new additions to Edinburgh’s LGBTQIA+ scene.

  • Our strong brand helps us be recognised across Edinburgh

  • Our social media engagement took off, with our audience growing steadily through our content

  • Our events consistently sell out, showing there’s a real appetite for spaces like this, and that our branding and promotion are doing their job

  • We built a loyal and connected community, not just an audience

Eloise brought our vision to life – from the disco-ball-fruit logo to the bold, fun graphics, everything she designed truly reflects the joy and inclusivity we wanted to create.

We honestly couldn’t have done it without her!
